The City has solicited bids for the widening and paving of Churchwell between Hutchison Boulevard and Front Beach Road. A new wider bridge will also be constructed and sidewalks, lighting, and underground utilities installed.

Work should begin before the end of the year. Panama City Beach City Council approved in August the issuance of $57 million bonds that will, with Community Redevelopment Area revenue, fund the Churchwell, Beckrich and Alf Coleman projects.

Eye Center has submitted requests for permits for their new facilitylocated on Hutchison Boulevard, and plans for Longhorn Steak House, located in Pier Park and PCB Parkway, have been approved.

It is anticipated that both will begin work by December. Carr, Riggs, and Ingram, an accounting firm, has started construction on a 40,000 square feet office building located on PCB Parkway between Nautilus and Gulf Boulevard.

Carrabba’s Italian Grill opened in mid-August with large crowds of diners, and the adjacent shops are being rented. PCB Embroidery will be moving into the new shopping center soon. Nautilus Cove Condominiums held their grand opening in mid-August (8/14) and are offering “attainable” housing with functionality and style. As more of the commercial and residential units open, Nautilus and PCB Parkway will be a busy intersection and even with additional lanes on the Parkway, drivers need to practice caution.

Work continues at Pier Park with Target on schedule to open in October and development orders approved for the sixteen-screen movie theater.Work has begun on three other buildings that will be the home of several boutiques and shops.
