Is the tail wagging the dog at Nautilus Cove?

South and central Florida is really the eqicenter of the Florida condo market, all Florida has condos, but there are more there and they take condo situations far more seriously than we do here on the 'redneck Riviera'. You might keep some Orlando Sentinel items bookmarked for reading, here is one that has some bearing on our particular management company problem: http://tinyurl.com/6ua3b4k

The article points out that all too frequently the management firms are of the opinion that it is them, or their CAM, that runs the condo. Of course I know that is BS but you might take a look at the entire article, here is a quote FYI:

". . . in many associations the cart is leading the horse. Board members need to understand that your management company is there to assist the association in the day to day operations of managing the community. . . They work for the association and. . . the association is their boss and not the other way around. It is the Board of Directors, and not the management company who makes the decisions about what are in the best interests of the community. . ."

Those attending the 1/14 AGM/BOD meeting saw a good example of this when the issue of pool hours and access to the deck in winter came up and the CAM was inflexable on any change of hours etc.

So take a look at the interesting articles that come out of S. Florida, they apply to us here in the boonies just as much as the yuppies in Lauderdale.   (see also: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/business/realestate/condos/)
